Role Purpose: The Carbon Project Certification Specialist is responsible for preparing audit-ready certification documentation for soil carbon projects developed under GHG Benefits in Managed Crop and Grassland Systems Credit Class developed by Ecometric (Ecometric methodology) within the
RegenNetwork Registry.This role focuseson documentation, audit support, and certification processes. You willtranslate MRV outputs and project data into structured, defensibledocumentation and support validation, verification, and registry submissions.Carboneg usesVM0042/VCS principles as an internal quality benchmark to strengthen auditreadiness — familiarity with VCS is therefore valuable even though Ecometric isthe primary operating standard.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Certification Documentation & Framework Alignment Review applicable methodology, registry, and voluntary carbon programme requirements to ensure documentation is consistent with eligibility, additionality, monitoring, leakage, permanence, safeguards, validation, verification, and issuance requirements. Apply relevant VM0042/VCS principles as a robustness benchmark where Carboneg uses them to strengthen documentation quality, audit readiness, and methodological defensibility. Prepare and maintain certification documentation for soil carbon projects applying Ecometric methodologies under the Regen Network Registry, including Project design document (PDD), methodology alignment sections, project descriptions, baseline establishment and additionality analysis, safeguards and risk assessment, leakage and permanence explanations. Prepare and organise stakeholder consultation and safeguards documentation, including meeting records, attendance lists, consultation summaries, stakeholder feedback, communication evidence, grievance-related documentation, and supporting files. Liaise with field and operations teams to collect missing stakeholder, safeguard, eligibility, implementation, or monitoring evidence required for certification or audit purposes. Compile and format monitoring documentation prepared by the MRV Specialist for inclusion in audit packages

2. Validation, Verification & Audit Support P
repare validation and verification submission packages, including core project documents, annexes, supporting evidence, stakeholder consultation records, monitoring documentation, and internal checklists. Draft responses to auditor questions, Clarification Requests (CRs), and Corrective Action Requests (CARs) for review by the Head of Certification, and maintain trackers of open audit findings, actions, responsibilities, deadlines, and submitted evidence.
3. Registry,Ratings & Evidence Management Prepare evidence packages for registry submissions, project registration, credit issuance support, and external carbon credit ratings such as BeZero, where relevant. Compile and organise supporting evidence for additionality, permanence, safeguards, co-benefits, project implementation, farmer participation, land eligibility, and monitoring claims.
4. DocumentControl & Quality Assurance Maintain strong document control across active projects, including version histories, change logs, review comments, submission records, approved versions, and well-structured evidence folders. Check documents for internal consistency, completeness, terminology alignment, formatting, traceability, and readiness for external review. Proactively flag inconsistencies, missing evidence, unclear wording, or audit risks to the Head of Certification and relevant team members.
Required Qualifications & SkillsMust-have· Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in agriculture, agronomy, soil science, environmental governance or related field with at least 2 years of experience in voluntary carbon project certification/documentation (soil carbon) Working familiarity with Ecometric methodology and Regen Network Registry requirements, or demonstrated ability to rapidly learn a new carbon standard with prior VCS/VM0042 experience as a foundation· Strong understanding of: Baseline & additionality; Leakage & permanence; Monitoring plans and audit requirements; Validation and verification processes (incl. CAR/CR handling) Ability to convert technical inputs into structured, defensible documentation. Ability to work with structured datasets and documentation Excellent written English (audit-grade clarity and precision)· Strong organisational skills with ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
Nice-to-have· Direct eperience working with carbon credit rating agencies (e.g. BeZero) and certified soil carbon projects· Familiarity with PowerBI analysis and QGIS
