Head of Certifications

Prague, Czech Republic

Full-time (2–3days/week in the office)
Start date: Ideally August 1, 2025

Help us turn soil into a climate solution.

At Carboneg, we believe that healing the soil is the key to healing our planet. Through regenerative agriculture and science-based monitoring, we help farmers build healthier soil that stores carbon, supports biodiversity, and produces long-term environmental and economic benefits.

Operating in 13 countries across 4 continents, we work at the intersection of nature-based solutions, agriculture, and carbon markets. We're growing fast — and we're now looking for a Head of Certifications to join our core team in Prague.

About the Role

As our Head of Certifications, you'll lead the process of validating and verifying our carbon farming projects under internationally recognized standards such as ISO 14064-2, Verra VM0042, and others. You’ll play a crucial role in ensuring our credits are scientifically sound, credible, and aligned with the highest integrity requirements of the voluntary carbon market.

You’ll be leading a team of 4 specialists (2 based in Prague, 2 remote) and work closely with our internal agronomy, MRV, sales, and operations teams, as well as external auditors, validators, and partners.

This is a strategic and hands-on role — ideal for someone who wants to build and continuously improve certification systems in a mission-driven, impact-first organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead preparation of project documentation for validation and verification under ISO, Verra, or other standards

• Coordinate with internal teams and external experts to collect and organize evidence and datasets

• Maintain robust documentation systems aligned with methodologies and audit requirements

• Serve as the main point of contact for third-party validators and auditors

• Track and implement updates to carbon standards and methodologies

• Help shape Carboneg’s long-term certification strategy across multiple geographies

What We’re Looking For

• Solid experience in carbon project certification, verification, or climate accounting

• Familiarity with standards like ISO 14064-2, Verra VM0042, Gold Standard, or similar

• Strong analytical and organizational skills

• Fluent in English, especially in writing technical documentation

• Ability to work independently and lead complex audit processes

• University degree in sustainability, environmental science, agriculture, or a related field

• (Bonus) Experience with remote sensing, carbon quantification, or soil carbon models

• (Bonus) Experience managing small teams or mentoring colleagues

What We Offer

• A mission-driven role in a company working on real climate impact

• The opportunity to shape certification systems in regenerative agriculture across continents

• A supportive, international team culture based on professionalism, autonomy, and ethics

• Flexible working hours, with 2–3 days/week in our Prague office (with a view over the city!)

• 25 days of vacation + 5 sick days

• Meal vouchers, home office allowance, wellness & culture contribution

• Ongoing learning & development support

About Carboneg

At Carboneg, we connect farmers with companies to create a powerful alliance for positive change. Our model supports the transition from conventional to regenerative agriculture using practices like no-till farming, cover cropping, and diverse crop rotations.

We measure and reward the increase of carbon in soil — generating verified carbon credits that meet the highest international standards. The resulting credits are sold to companies seeking high-integrity carbon removals to meet their sustainability goals.

This approach not only removes CO₂ from the atmosphere — it also restores ecosystem services, enhances biodiversity, and supports resilient rural communities.
